RR06: McDonough CH.1-3
So this Henry Ford guy seems pretty cool. I’ve known that he was a great inventor who created the Model T car, but I didn’t know how he did it. I think the fact that he actually took the time to think about how he could produce more efficiently with minimal waste shows what a good guy he was. And on top of that he even increased the amount of money he gave to his workers, while decreasing the work hours. I don’t think an employee today would think their boss was serious if they said they were going to give you more money for working fewer hours. You would think you were getting Punk’d or something. The book mentioned one of Henry Ford’s quotes “You must get the most out of the power, out of the material, and out of the time”. I liked this quote because I think most company owners would agree, but it is one thing to agree and another to do. Henry Ford showed what he meant by this with his assembly line. I think if Henry Ford were alive today, he would be disappointed with how some industries have went about in creating products. Although they may be working efficiently, they are endangering the environment in the process without looking at the damages.
